CASA Instrument Rating Examination (IREX)

IREX

The CASA IREX qualification is required for any RPA / drone pilot wanting to fly Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) in Controlled Airspace.

A new pathway for flying your drone beyond your visual line of sight (BVLOS OCTA) outside of controlled airspace has been launched, with a tailored exam. This is an alternative to the current requirement to pass the instrument rating exam (IREX) – an exam originally designed for helicopter and aeroplane pilots.

Our course is aimed at RPA / drone pilots who may or may not have a manned aviation background.

Our course is taught over a 3 week period, including revision / recap before you write the IREX exam in the 4th week.

The classes are small (no more than 4 students at a time), with one on one tuition available.

The independent exam is written at an ASPEQ exam center near you.

If you would like to find out more or book in to the IREX course, please use the Contact Us page to get in touch.
