As we operate and train in EVLOS and BVLOS operations, including developing the procedures for both, we are pleased to share our experience and knowledge in presenting the new BVLOS OCTA rating for the CASA exam. This course is aimed at RPA Pilots (holding a RePL) wanting to gain a rating in the BVLOS OCTA field. The course covers the additional theory component required for the rating exam.
The BVLOS OCTA exam is based on 60% of your RePL MOS theory and 40% on general BVLOS theory.
The online interactive BVLOS OCTA webinar or classroom course covers the following syllabus:
- Privileges and limitations of the BVLOS OCTA rating
- Supporting documents and information
- RPA instruments, radios, and equipment
- Meteorology relevant to BVLOS operations
- BVLOS operations – general
- Operations outside of controlled airspace (OCTA)
- Navigation with global navigation satellite systems (GNSS)
- Human factors relevant to BVLOS operations (Human-Machine Interfacing)
- Operations in and near aerodromes (Uncontrolled) and above 400ft
In addition, the course covers practical and real world considerations such as:
- Example questions and answers to assist you with preparation for your CASA BVLOS OCTA rating exam.
- Flight planning and examples
- Specific Operational Risk Assessment (SORA) covering non standard BVLOS conditions and inside the J curve.
