- 4 days of online interactive classroom training in the first week.
- 1 day of online interactive classroom review and training at the end of the 3rd week, with the exam being written in week 4 from the start of the course.
- Further support for Q & A as required via email and zoom if need be.
Excludes ASA Documents, ASPEQ exam fees and bookings.
The CASA IREX (Instrument Rating Exam) qualification is required for any RPA / drone pilot wanting to fly Extended Visual Line of Sight (EVLOS) Class 2 or Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS).
Our Instrument Rating Exam course is aimed at RPA / drone pilots who may or may not have a manned aviation background.
Whilst a manned pilot may be deemed to have an advantage, we have proven that the Instrument Rating Exam can be successfully achieved by RPA / drone pilots with no manned pilot experience.
Our course is taught over a 3 week period, including revision / recap before you write the IREX exam in the 4th week.
The classes are small (no more than 4 students at a time), with one on one tuition available.
In Brisbane, we can offer face to face tuition as a further option, otherwise interactive online classroom tuition for students Australia wide.
This course is intensive and be prepared for dedicated study during the course up to the exam. The only person that can get you through the exam is you by doing practice exams many times over and getting to know your documents backwards for quick referencing for answers. The exam is 210 minutes long and approximately 80 questions, so time will fly. Knowing where to look in the charts and regulations is paramount to passing. The pass mark is 70%, lower than a RePL exam. Many students pass by the 2nd or 3rd Instrument Rating Exam attempt, very few pass on first attempt. We run refresher courses should you require another attempt. Rewrite as soon as you can after the last exam and do not become disillusioned if you don't pass on first or second attempt. You only go through this qualification once in your drone career.
We provide a one year subscription for IFR on OZRunways and access to an online practice exam portal. But you are required to purchase all the printed documents required by CASA for the IREX Exam.
The independent exam is written at an ASPEQ exam center near you.
