EVLOS (with FPV) Class 1 and Class 2 Training
- Pre requisites: You are the CRP for a current ReOC and hold a sub 25kg RePL and AROC.
- Two days of online interactive classroom theory and one day in the field.
- This course includes preparing your procedures for submission to CASA
- Practical simulated EVLOS operations assessment as a rehearsal for your CASA assessment
- Class 1 and 2 as per Part 101 MOS and ReOC procedures.
- On completion of the course, you are able to submit your application to CASA immediately
CASA have determined the guidelines and criteria to be met, along with the submission of the specific EVLOS form for approval, including a CASA witnessed mission assessment for approval.
Extended visual line of sight (EVLOS) operations have now been operationalised by the new Part 101 MOS. This facilitates flight of an RPA beyond the visual line of sight of the remote pilot, in limited circumstances, using observers to keep the airspace around the aircraft in sight and to help manage the risks of the operation.
Limited circumstances includes any additional pilot proficiency and qualifications required as per CASR101.300.
This course excludes CASA EVLOS assessment fees or additional pilot and observer qualifications as required by CASA.
This course will give the Chief Remote Pilot and one observer the experience and knowledge to prepare for planning and executing their EVLOS operations, using FPV as an adjunct to visual observations. Additional observers can be added to the course.
The course will be conducted using our drone and our approved ReOC E-VLOS procedures and training venues. CASA E-VLOS approval fees are not included.
Remote pilots, observers, RPA and ReOC holders need to meet the standards in the relevant part of the MOS to carry out E-VLOS operations (Class 1 and/or 2) and be pre-approved by CASA before you may fly any E-VLOS operations.
The Class 1 operation is where pilot and observer are in same location; the class 2 operation is where pilot and observer are in different locations, up to 1500m apart.
As your E-VLOS team will be made up of the Pilot in Command and an observer for the operation, the course outcome is to provide the FPV and E-VLOS experience with the required JSA's and SORA Risk Assessment for such an operation. We also include the procedures and training program that you would need to follow for your own team's internal training.
Included in the course:
1. E-VLOS and FPV JSA template, including
-
Pre-flight briefing for an EVLOS operation
-
Communications for EVLOS operation class 1 and class 2 (pilot and observer in different locations)
